• If you are running Tomcat on Linux or another Unix platform, to enable the generation of images for the Gantt chart display you must configure the Java runtime options for your server to set the java.awt.headless property to true. For Apache Tomcat 4.1 on Linux, you can do this by adding the following line to the /etc/tomcat4/tomcat4.conf file:

  JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.awt.headers=true"

• Copy the projectreporter.war file from the Project Reporter installation directory to the webapps directory of your web server — for example, C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps.

• Wait a minute or so for Tomcat to expand the .war file automatically (creating a webapps\projectreporter directory). If this does not happen automatically, you may need to stop and restart the Tomcat server (for example, using the Services control panel on Windows NT, 2000, or XP).

• Test the web application by pointing your browser to a URL of this form (adjusting the host name and port number as appropriate):

  http://myserver.myhost.com:8080/projectreporter/prservlet

http://localhost:8080/manager/install?path=/projectreporter&war=file:/c/projectreporter.war
